Shakespeare’s “As You Like It”

Tonight & Tomorrow - Friday and Saturday, August 16 & 17

Winters Theatre Company will present Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” as their summer “Shakespeare in the Park” production. It will be performed in the evening under the stars on Fridays and Saturdays, August 16 & 17, starting at 8 pm both nights at the outdoor Amphitheater behind the Winters Community Center, 201 Railroad Ave.

The heroine, Rosalind, flees persecution in her uncle’s court, accompanied by her cousin Celia and Touchstone the court jester, to find safety, and eventually, love, in the Forest of Arden.

Two Dixon residents are in the play – Jesse and  Donna Akers. The Akers have participated in many of the theatre company’s productions. They encourage other Dixon residents to consider being involved in future plays.

Because The Winters Theatre Company wishes to present "Shakespeare in the Park" as family-friendly entertainment, all children under 12 years of age, if accompanied by an adult, will be admitted free.  Adult tickets are $5 each and will be available at the door and online at www.winterstheatre.org

Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and a picnic dinner to enjoy before the show. Refreshments will also be available for sale.

For more information call (530) 795-4014 or send email to: winterstheatre@gmail.com

Dixon School District Facilities Debt Issues On Agenda for Thursday, August 7

By Brian Dolan, Superintendent of Schools Like almost every school district in California, the Dixon Unified School District (DUSD) has had to go into debt to pay for the costs of building or maintaining facilities. Unlike most other places, over the last six years DUSD has paid the majority of this debt from our General Fund. At this time, those payments are a significant obstacle for us to overcome and we are exploring alternative ways to pay them
