Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Festival Thursday

You better watch out, you better not shout, you better not cry, because it is December and Santa Claus is coming to town, Downtown Dixon, this Thursday December 5th. The festivities get started at 4:00 pm throughout downtown.

Santa Claus will be meeting, listening, and talking with boys and girls inside the beautiful Olde Vet’s Hall. The Hall is filled with all kinds unique & wonderful items to shop at this years Craft Faire.

You won’t want to miss a free Family ride around downtown in the Horse drawn Carriage Rides, as well as letting your Children enjoy a free Pony Ride, at the corner of First Street and A Street. Calvary Chapel will be offering free Children Christmas Crafts inside with refreshments.

In the Holiday Spirit many youth groups, organizations, will be providing treats or fundraising for their group. The Dixon Professional Firefighters Association provides an awesome outdoor bonfire pit, Kettle Korn, and Hot Apple Cider. Women of the Moose #1787 provide fresh baked sugar cookies for everyone. The Dixon Boy Scouts will be popping and handing out free popcorn as well as sell See’s Candy bars. The Dixon Little League with have a sign-up table and be making cotton candy.

Grace Fellowship provides this year’s Live Nativity Scene at the Women’s Improvement Park, too. Come on out and stroll around Downtown Dixon there should be many things at this years community event that will lift your spirits!

Friends of the Dixon Library holds their annual book give-away. The library will be closing at 3pm and then be open for story times only.

Join library staff for two holiday themed story times and sing-a-longs at 5:15 pm and at 7:15 pm. The library doors will open five minutes prior to the start time. Keep an eye out for The Grinch who will be visiting the library, and helping to announce story times.

Do you have a library card? Bring it with you to the Christmas Tree Lighting and you could win a prize! Visit the library’s booth and show staff your library card. If you do not have a library card bring PHOTO ID and PROOF OF ADDRESS and staff will get you a card on the spot, those applicants under 18 will need a parent or legal guardian with them.
