Winters Theatre Company Auditions Next Tuesday & Thursday

The Winters Theatre Company will hold auditions for “You Can't Take It With You,” a comedy by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, on January 7 and 9, 2014, at 7:30 pm in the Winters Community Center. Performances will be held on the weekends of March 7-23. The cast includes several roles for men and women, ages 21 and up. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

The script revolves around the Sycamores, an eccentric New York City family who have some "slightly batty" characters. There are many strange activities that go on in the Sycamore household including the manufacturing of fireworks and let's not forget Grandpa's interview with the IRS in which he reveals he does not believe in the income tax.

In contrast to these delightful people are the unhappy Kirbys. Tony, the attractive young son of the Kirbys, falls in love with Alice Sycamore and brings his parents to dine at the Sycamore house on the wrong evening. The shock sustained by Mr. and Mrs. Kirby, who are invited to eat cheap food, shows Alice that marriage with Tony is out of the question.

The Sycamores find it hard to understand Alice's view. Tony knows the Sycamores live the right way with love and care for each other, while his own family is the one that's crazy. In the end, Mr. Kirby is converted to the happy madness of the Sycamores after he happens in during a visit by the ex-Grand Duchess of Russia, Olga Katrina, who is currently earning her living as a waitress.

Dixon School District Facilities Debt Issues On Agenda for Thursday, August 7

By Brian Dolan, Superintendent of Schools Like almost every school district in California, the Dixon Unified School District (DUSD) has had to go into debt to pay for the costs of building or maintaining facilities. Unlike most other places, over the last six years DUSD has paid the majority of this debt from our General Fund. At this time, those payments are a significant obstacle for us to overcome and we are exploring alternative ways to pay them
