DIXON, CA (MPG) - The winner of the Chamber Ambassador of the year was awarded by last year’s winner, Brandi Proffitt of Dixon Wellness Collective.

“Let me set the stage,” she began, “Picture this: a gravedigger with a twist. Not your typical shovel-wielding, solemn-faced figure, oh noooo... We're talking about a guy who's got a knack for making even the gloomiest of days a little brighter.”

She introduced Rafael Lara, reporting that he was Silveyville Cemetery’s resident cat-loving, cartoon-adoring groundskeeper extraordinaire.

“You see, Rafael approaches every task with a mild temper and a quirky sense of humor that never fails to lighten the mood. Rafael has been a rock for the Chamber Ambassadors for the past two years. He is someone you can always count on to be at any event, grabbing up all the raffle prizes with the warmest smile on his face.”

“He is a pleasure to be around, will happily strike up a conversation with anyone, and is a wonderful representation of the Ambassador team being the Goodwill Arm of the Chamber,” she added. “Reliable and fun, Rafael brings his outgoing personality, great sense of humor, and determination to the group. He is typically the first one to arrive as he enjoys setting up for Chamber events and sometimes is the last one to leave. He takes great pride in making sure each event goes smoothly.”

He was awarded Ambassador of the Year, which is decided upon by the Chamber Ambassadors themselves. Here's to you Rafael, our not-so-ordinary gravedigger, who proves that even in life's most solemn moments, a little humor and a lot of love can go a long way.

“Congrats to you Raf, you deserve it!" Profitt concluded.

Ambassadors are a 16-member group of fun, energetic people who serve as the goodwill arm of the Chamber and are the backbone of the Chamber’s volunteer force. The Ambassadors attend and assist at Chamber events including Grand Openings, Ribbon-Cuttings, Mixers, Mingles, and any other events. It is the goal of the Ambassadors to function as liaisons and mentors to new and existing members by providing information about Chamber resources and helping to educate members on ways to maximize their membership. They meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m. at the Chamber office, 220 North Jefferson.
