DIXON, CA (MPG) - Patty and Wayne Holland celebrated their 50th anniversary in an appropriate place: the American Legion Post 208 Veterans Hall last Friday night where the two are members and where they have helped coordinate activities, events, and dinners for more than 15 years. Cupcakes and fun were shared throughout the popular fish-fry dinner.

The couple met through friends, they said.

“It was pretty much a blind date. We had the same friends,” said Patty with a laugh.  They got married at the St. Stephens Catholic Church in Walnut Creek and spent most of their lives raising their two sons in Vallejo until they moved closer to family and got involved in Dixon’s American Legion.

Patty said they’ve had a lot of fun over the years, but the most fun trip they ever took was going to Disneyland.

Her advice to making this long commitment: “Communicate and talk everything out. Just talk problems out (no fighting) and discuss things,” she said.
