Ramtown Karate just returned from a competition in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they had a team fighting in the AAU North American Open. It was an international tournament that had about 750 competitors this year, and Ramtown athlete Anna Anderson won the 16/17-age women’s gold medal (pictured with Sensei Jim Ernest).

“We had five athletes competing both days and they won two bronze on Saturday for fighting, and on Sunday, they took two golds, one silver and two bronze for a different kind of fighting,” said Sensei Kathy Ernest. The top two competitors in the advanced division will be asked to compete for the USA Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team in Mexico in July. “We’re super excited for these kids,” she added. The students are marking their calendars for this year’s summer camp July 22-26. For more information, call (707) 678-4899. Ramtown Karate is located at 1680 North Lincoln Street Suite A in Dixon.
