Talk with Assemblywoman

Food and Fun

On Sunday, April 21, Dixon’s Action Team will present a Food Truck and Family Fun event at the Veterans Memorial Hall, 1305 North First Street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be food vendors, small shops, and children’s activities. Proceeds benefit the Dixon Action Team, author of Dixon’s Grillin’ and Chillin’ Street Fair in downtown Dixon on Saturday, June 29.

YLI Salad Luncheon

The Young Ladies Institute with St. Peter’s Parish will hold their annual salad luncheon on Friday, April 19, from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Parish Hall, 105 South Second Street. Tickets are $15 per person and are for all you can eat. There will be plenty of raffle baskets one might win as well. This is a fundraiser.

Community Grant Deadline

Nonprofits in Dixon are invited to apply for a community grant of up to $1,000 from the Dixon Women’s Improvement Club. All applications received by the due date will be reviewed by the Community grants Committee that will determine to whom and the amount of the grants to be awarded. Atkinson 20th Anniversary

Manager Stephanie Roe reported events to mark the 20th anniversary of Atkinson Storage, 1800 North First Street. First, on May 2 from 5-6:30 p.m., there will be a ribbon cutting with the Chamber of Commerce marking 20 years. On Sunday, May 19, they will host a Food Truck and Family Fun event from noon to 4 p.m. Then, on Friday, May 31, they will draw raffle prize winners and will be open late from 5 to 7 p.m. for prize pickups. As a reminder, June 1 is their shredding event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. $10 per banker box. Phone is (707) 693-9200.

Cornhole Tournament

The Dixon Schools Athletic Boosters, who support both Dixon High School and John Knight Middle School, are hosting the 1st Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, April 27. Check-in time is 11 a.m. and the event starts at noon. There are prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Registration of $100 per team and all skill levels are welcome. It includes entry for a door prize, too. Solano Brewing Company, 4Bags.In, and CMC are current sponsors, but more are invited. Sponsors include custom boards and bags with the company’s logo. Dixon High Prom

‘A Night in New Orleans’ is the theme of the 2024 Prom, which will be April 26 at the Elks Tower in Sacramento. Tickets will be on sale from April 15-19 for all students. They are $55 each. New Orleans is like no other city in the country. The 2024 DHS Prom promises to be like no other event this year.

Parks & Rec Meeting

Next Tuesday, April 23, will be the next Parks and Recreation Committee meeting at City Hall, 600 East A Street. For the agenda, go to cityofdixon.us and click on the government tab.

Annual Yard Sale

The large, neighborhood yard sale is set for Saturday, April 20, in the Homestead subdivisions off Pitt School Road and A Street.  Call or text Kimberly Moses at (707) 389-8046 for information.

Church Rummage Sale

On Saturday, April 20, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Inner State youth from churches rooted in Christ will host a rummage sale at Grace Fellowship Church at 535 West H Street. For donation pick up through April 19, call (707) 678-7500.
