DIXON, CA (MPG) - The lessons learned raising livestock as an FFA, 4-H, Grange or Independent project are lessons learned for a lifetime. Managing the purchase, choosing the best bred animal possible, feeding and keeping the animal healthy, then showing and preparing for sale are all activities that prepare our youth for a future in agriculture.

The Dixon May Fair Jr. Livestock Auction on Saturday is the culmination of months of daily hard work. The money earned by the youth at the Dixon May Fair Jr. Livestock Auction often goes to the purchase of an animal to raise next year, repay parents for feed bills or help along the way towards college savings accounts.

By supporting the Dixon May Fair Junior Livestock Auction on Saturday, May 11, purchasers are contributing to the education of today’s youth, the citizens of tomorrow.

The Auction starts at 11:30 a.m. The Jr. Livestock Auction at the Fair has been developed to educate the exhibitors in livestock marketing. The sale is made up of market animals that have been shown in the livestock divisions of the Fair.

These animals are owned, raised, fed and shown by the youth in 4-H, FFA, Grange and Independent programs. They have been judged by knowledgeable people and placed according to the market grades for the Auction sale order.

For more information on how to bid and purchase at the Auction, contact the Fair office at (707) 678-5529.
