Tule Fun Days

The Dixon Historical Society is starting a monthly workshop on Native Traditions and Waterway Stewardship at the Cache Creek Nature Preserve Tending and Gathering Garden. It will be at 34199 County Road 20 in Woodland from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on every third Sunday through September. The workshops are free, but space is limited so registration is important here: https://bit.ly/tulefundays2024. For more information, go to [email protected]. Hall Park Free Play

Free drop-in play is being offered at Hall Park now on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 5 p.m. at the Jim B. Stevens Arena. The Salaber All Weather Synthetic Play Field is also available for free drop-in play on Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m. If you are new to Dixon, Hall Park is the one with the swimming pool, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and a dog park, too, behind City Hall. It is located at Mayes and Fifth Street.

City Council Meeting – May 7th

The next City Council meeting will be Tuesday, May 7, 7 p.m. at City Hall, 600 East A Street.

Adult Lap Swim

With the warmer weather, the Pat Granucci Aquatic Center is now open for lap swim. Hours are: mornings Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 5:30 to 7 a.m.; Saturdays and Sundays 8 to 10 a.m. One can purchase a punch card (good for 20 Visits) for $78.75 adults; $63 seniors (55+) or the single visit fee is ‐ $5.25 or $4.25 per senior (55+.)  Register at the pool before workouts.

Chicken Dinner

On Friday, April 26, the Veteran’s Memorial Hall will feature a Porky Pig Roast dinner with mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetables, and a roll for $12.It starts around 5:30 and is at 1305 North First Street.

Shredding Event

Now that taxes are done, you probably have another bunch of papers you can shred from three years ago or seven years ago if you filed a claim for a loss from worthless securities or bad debt deduction. So, mark your calendars for Saturday, June 1, for the shredding event at Atkinson Self Storage, 1800 North First Street. Cash and card payments will be accepted, and pricing will be $10 per banker sized box. All are welcome to come to the event whether you rent a storage unit there or not.

Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast

To kick off Dixon’s annual May Fair Parade, the Dixon Rotary Club will be hosting their 57th annual Pancake breakfast; on Saturday May 11, 7a.m.-10 a.m. at 231 N First Street. Tickets will be sold at the door, for $5 per plate. They will be serving the pancakes of course, as well as sausage, juice, coffee and milk. Proceeds from the sales will go to the various clubs and programs sponsored by the Rotary Club, including Dixon High Scholarships and the Remember-A-Vet Program.

Senior Athlete College Commitment Celebration

Come and join Dixon High’s college bound athletes with a special celebration on May 24th. Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend the celebration, which will take place during lunch, at 12:45PM in the Big Gym.
