Accepting Applications for Vacancies on City Commissions

DIXON, CA (MPG) - The City of Dixon is currently accepting applications for the following vacancies on City Commissions:

One (1) vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Commission. The Parks and Recreation Commission is an advisory body to the City Council on matters pertaining to recreation and park facilities. Commissioners serve two-year terms, with a maximum of three consecutive terms. However, this vacancy would fill one unexpired term through June 30, 2022. The Parks and Recreations Commission meets at 7 pm on the fourth Tuesday of every month. City residency is required. A stipend of $75 per meeting attended is paid to each Commissioner.

One (1) vacancy on the Transportation Advisory Commission (TAC). The Transportation Advisory Commission is an advisory body to the City Council on matters pertaining to traffic, transportation, and parking issues. Commissioners serve four-year terms, with a maximum of two consecutive terms. However, this vacancy would fill one unexpired term through June 30, 2023. The TAC meets at 7 pm the third Wednesday of even-numbered months. City residency is required. A stipend of $75 per meeting attended is paid to each Commissioner

Interested Dixon residents may obtain an application at City Hall, 600 East A Street, by calling City Clerk Lupe Ruiz at (707) 678-7000, or by visiting the City’s website at www.cityofdixon.us. The deadline for filing applications is 5 pm, Monday, Sept. 27, 2021.

In other City news, a volunteer cleanup day is planned on Saturday, Sept. 11, in alignment with the National Day of Service and Remembrance. 

There are two areas of focus. The first area is the linear paths between North First Street and Pembrook Way. For this location, volunteers should meet at Alexander Court. The Rotary Club has committed to working this area with their volunteers and more are always welcome. 

The second location will be the streetscapes on Pitt School Road north of A Street. Volunteers can sign up by contacting Linda Babb at (707) 693-2224 or email her: [email protected]. Volunteers will meet between 8:45 am and 9 am.

The City will be negotiating contract changes with Recology in the coming months and the community-wide garbage pick-up will be discussed.
