Vendor Fair
Last year, the Mother House Plant Boutique in downtown Dixon had a large and successful vendor fair that filled their parking lot so they’re doing it again. On Saturday, April 2, from 10 am to 4 pm, there will be more than 20 vendors of all kinds of wares from local and small makers. There will be lots of food and lots to look at so come shop and enjoy the (hopefully) spring weather. Look for the dark green house at 350 West A Street.
Spring Break
Spring Break is from April 4 through the 8th for Dixon High, Maine Prairie, John Knight Middle School, Anderson Elementary, Gretchen Higgins, Tremont Elementary or Dixon Montessori. Neighborhood Christian School will still be in session as their break is April 11 through the 15th.
City Council
The Dixon City Council meets this coming Tuesday, April 5, at 7 pm. Yes, Dixon is growing"'everyone can see new construction in just about every area of Dixon. Here is an important fact: If you moved here, you, too, were not wanted in the sense that the people who moved here before you wanted to also close the doors on growth. But for this diamond on the I-80 corridor, growth is inevitable.
Please help Dixon keep its small-town charm by getting involved in the community. Safe to say, an invitation is extended by every church, every service club, and by every council rep to join something and volunteer somewhere! Learn more about what is happening in Dixon by attending City Council, City Planning, Parks and Recreation Commission or the Transportation Advisory Commission and comment. Your thoughts and opinions need to be heard and do matter, according to a couple of the City Council reps. See agendas on the City of Dixon website.
TCU for Ukraine
Travis Credit Union (TCU) joins the fundraising efforts of the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU) in support of Ukrainian credit unions and pledges to donate fifteen thousand dollars to the Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund campaign. The Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund campaign aims to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn residents as well as the two million refugees who have fled the country.
WFCU will donate more than half of the funds raised during the first weeks of the campaign to approved non-governmental organizations (NGOs) providing emergency humanitarian aid in Ukraine and bordering European countries supporting Ukrainian refugees. Along with continued fundraising, the remaining funds will go toward longer-term credit union recovery efforts to support rebuilding the local economy and infrastructure.
Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU), in partnership with the World Council (WOCCU), is leveraging our global network to identify the immediate priority areas where funding can be used to support displaced credit union members and staff. Go to TravisCU.org or call (707) 449-4000 for more info. They are located at 1470 Ary Lane in Dixon.
