Library Events
The Corny Crow Show which will feature Steve and his partner ‘Corny Crow’ will present their unique ventriloquy show for children and adults on Thursday, July 14 at 10 AM, at the Dixon Public Library. Steve and Corny will also teach a bit about puppetry, too.
A Sumer Time Ice Cream Social is next on their calendar for Thursday, July 21, at noon. Residents are invited to come beat the heat and join others on the back patio following lunch at the library.
On Saturday, July 30, children will want to join in on the Harry Potter Party featuring ‘Magic Dan.’ It will be a magical celebration in honor of Harry Potter’s birthday. There will be a wizarding classroom with stations to play games, make crafts, and practice wand waving skills. Then, Magic Dan will arrive at 3 PM to entertain and delight. Witch, Wizard, and magical creature costumes are encouraged.
These events are free. More information can be found at solanolibrary.com/summer-reading or by visiting the library, located at 230 North First Street.
Dog Days
Friendly reminder that pet paws can get burnt on hot concrete or asphalt so if you’re walking your dog during the summer heat, try one of the local parks where grass is abundant and shade trees help keep temperatures a bit cooler. There is a Dixon Dog Park at the end of Hall Park with entry closest via South 7th Street and East Chestnut Avenue.
