Fall Festival

On Saturday, October 29, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. you can have all kinds of fun at Dixon High School, 555 College Way. There will be a car show, food, games, prizes, and more. No entry fee.

Church Treats

At least two churches are hosting Trunk or Treats on Halloween night. Living Hope, located at 410 Gateway Drive invites folks to join them for some fun. Decorated trunks will be open to trick-or-treaters from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is a well-lit, traffic-free candy stop. The best decorated trunk wins a prize!

Revive Church, located at 955 East A Street is also hosting a Trunk or Treat on Halloween. If you’re looking for an alternative to trick or treating, or you want to do something fun before going out that night, come join them for this free event. They will have food, costume contests, some prizes, games and lots more fun.

Parks Masterplan

The City of Dixon is currently in the process of updating the Parks & Recreation Masterplan. The goal of the Masterplan is to develop a collaborative vision for the ways Dixon will implement future recreation facilities and programs that meet the needs of the community. It is a strategic document that studies the existing parks system and recreation programs and identifies a blueprint for the future.

The City is hosting two more workshops to collect input on the Masterplan. “These workshops are a vital part of the public engagement process. The community is encouraged to attend each workshop to learn more about the Masterplan and share their vision for the future of Dixon,” said Public Works Director Louren Kotow.

Workshops will be held at the Senior/Multi-Use Center: 201 S. 5th Street from 6 to 8 p.m. on November 9 and December 8. The workshops will build upon each other, and community members are encouraged to attend all if possible. To register for workshops, or learn more about the Masterplan, community members can visit: www.cityofdixon.us/ParksRecreationMasterplan.

Halloween House

Dixonite Carl Webber has done a great job of decorating for Halloween and invites citizens to enjoy the view at 910 Sommer Drive. He says the children will like it and that the lights are only on from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. but longer on Halloween night.

Hall Park

The City will be hosting a volunteer clean-up event on Saturday, November 5 starting at 9 a.m. The event will be held at Hall Park. Please bring plenty of water, gloves, and any tools that you might want to use, as there will be limited tools provided by the City for this landscape and clean-up activity. Please mark your tools so they make it back home with you.

Volunteers can sign up by contacting Linda Babb at (707) 693-2224 or [email protected].

Please complete a volunteer form that will be provided on the day of the event. If you are under 18, please have your parent or guardian complete the form.

Book Sale

The Friendly Bookworm Bookstore run by the Friends of the Dixon Public Library volunteers will host another ‘Bag Sale’ on November 5, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 200 North First Street, next door to the library downtown. For cash or check only, patrons may fill a bag with books for only $5. Note that not all books are included in the sale. Children’s books inside are not part of the sale, for example. All proceeds will support the programs at the Dixon Public Library.
