FAIRFIELD, CA (MPG) - At a special meeting of the SCC Governing Board held on November 9th, 2022 the trustees appointed Amanda Lopez-Lara to serve as Trustee for Area 7 which includes Winters, Dixon, and parts of Vacaville.

Ms. Lopez-Lara, who resides in Dixon, will finish Mr. Michael Martin’s term of office from November 9 through December 2024. Long time Winters’ resident Michael Martin served as trustee for this area since 2012 until his resignation on October 30th when he relocated to Ohio. 

Trustee Lopez-Lara attended Davis Senior High School where she served as the student representative to the school board during difficult budget times. She attended UC Berkeley and graduated with a BS degree in Political Economy and completed major coursework in accounting. She has worked in large accounting firms as an auditor and accountant and currently serves as an accounting manager at Stanford University.

Trustee Lopez-Lara has a unique understanding of the area including the importance of representing higher education needs that will serve agriculture and farming communities as well as the Latino population and first-generation students. Trustee Lopez-Lara will participate in her first Board meeting on November 16th.
