DIXON, CA (MPG) - The Lady Rams celebrated Senior Night last week recognizing two seniors who are graduating: Alexia Gomez and Brynne Dominguez. Those two were the only returning players from the year before so they were the only Seniors for their final season in Dixon High School Softball. The team held strong since seven of last year’s returning players came in as Juniors. Those seven are Aemonn Rosenberger, Lexi Mendes, Camryn Elliot, Felesha LePenske, Ashley Garcia, Caitlyn Hendershot, and Audrey Graham.
“When the Juniors were Freshman, it was the first time in school softball history that they won the GEL (Golden Empire League) Championship. They won again last year as well as winning the first-ever Sac-Joaquin Section Championship for the school and playing in the first-ever NorCal State Championship for DHS, in any sport I believe,” said Wendy Hendershot, mother of Caitlyn.
This year, they are Co-Champions of the GEL League with Pioneer High School out of Woodland. In an upcoming game, they are hoping to win their 2nd Section Championship at Cosumnes River College.
“Alexia, Aemonn, Camryn, Felesha, Caitlyn and Audrey all played together when they were 8 years old, winning the 2014 Winter Ball Down and Dirty Tournament in the Gold Bracket as the Dixon Dynamites,” she reported. “They only lost one game that whole season. DHS Head Coach Matt Boykin's two daughters were Assistant Coaches and DHS Asst Coach Eric Graham was their head coach back then.” See more on NorCal Girls Softball Association.
