DUSD Starts with New Principals, Teachers

DIXON, CA (MPG) - Dixon Unified School District students will be returning to school this coming Wednesday, August 9, and will be meeting new teachers and administrators.

After almost a decade at Dixon High School and most recently serving as Assistant Principal, Bob Bugalski will step up to serve as Interim Principal at John Knight Middle School after the departure of Kamilah O’Conner. Dixon High School will also be getting a new Interim Vice Principal: Kristen Brand. There will also be Jennifer Austin, who will be the Special Education Director.

DUSD Counselor Angelina Arias is also moving up and will be serving as the new Principal at Maine Prairie High School after the retirement of long-time Principal Yvette Ramos.

New at Dixon High School are music teacher Daniella Hazan, physics teacher Jeremy Scherr, and social studies teacher Ricardo Ledesma. Also new at DHS is counselor Laura Hershberger and long-time counseling office staff Maria Torres will now be Career Technician Education (CTE) in the Ag Department.

There are three new teachers at Anderson Elementary. They are 1st grade teacher Emma Levy, 2nd grade teacher Marcy Tanner, and Science teacher Lara Laugero.

Gretchen Higgins is welcoming four new teachers: Kindergarten teacher Adan Arroyo, 1st grade teacher Bernadette Guerrero, 2nd grade teacher Monica Johnson, and 4th grade teacher Michael Lopez.

Stefan Lugo is working as the new Resource Specialist (RSP) for Tremont and Gretchen Higgins Elementary Schools. Ariana Toebe is a new paraprofessional for the district.

Tremont Elementary has a new Kindergarten teacher, Alexandra Impastato, and Ashley Cordeiro is a new Instructional Learning Center/Special Day Class (ILC/SDC) person.

Rebecca Ford is also coming on as a new RSP for JKMS. School addresses and contact information can be found online at Dixonusd.org as well as individual websites for each school.

DUSD Governing Board meetings are held on the first and third of the month on Thursdays at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 600 East A Street.
