Downtown Dixon Revs Up ’24 Calendar
Jan 24, 2024 12:08PM ● By Debra DingmanDIXON, CA (MPG) - If you’re one who enjoys fun and socializing, get out your calendar as the Downtown Dixon Business Association Board has set dates for annual events that you won’t want to miss.
The half-day Board Retreat had a two-page agenda for pursuing the mission to enhance the business environment and promote the revitalization of downtown as the cultural center of the community.
“I’m looking back at 2023 and saw the community really come out in numbers after dealing with Covid for two years,” said DDBA President Jill Orr. “It was a big relief to see everyone enjoying our many events. Everyone I spoke to said that it’s the best time they’ve ever had and that’s what we want to hear. We want citizens to enjoy being in our community, socializing and meeting new friends.”
Dates for the 2024 events are: Railroad Days will be over the weekend of June 22 and 23; The Art and Wine Stroll is August 17; Brewski Fest is October 12; Halloween Treat Trail is October 31; Holiday Open House is November 24, which is the Saturday before Thanksgiving as usual; and the Christmas Tree Lighting Festival is traditionally the first Thursday in December and is set for December 5.
The group is looking into reviving the spring Dixon Dash that was popular with youth and especially runners who benefitted the youth track as well as cross-country teams. The event was originally organized by Kathy King when students and the community rallied around Coach Tom Crumpacker of Dixon High School who had been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. Crumpacker has since recovered. The Dash went on for several years but stopped with the pandemic shutdown. If anyone is interested in volunteering to help bring it back, please call (707) 678-8400 or message through their Facebook page: DowntownDixonBusinessAssociationDDBA.
