DIXON, CA (MPG) - The Dixon May Fair was recently awarded several honors in the Western Fair Association’s annual industry Achievement Awards program for the 2023 Fair. Coralee Pettey, representing the Maine Prairie 4-H Club, is ready to show her lamb in the 2024 Junior Livestock shows.

The Sensory Station was the concept of CEO Patricia Conklin who saw the need for a safe and calming space for any guest who needed it, and particularly for the Fair’s many special needs attendees. A room away from the stimulating sights and sounds of the Fair was set aside. Dimmed lighting, soothing nature videos, and quiet activities were conducive for some quiet time. The room was also used and appreciated by many nursing mothers.

Dixon May Fair also received the first-place awards for their pocket schedule brochure designed by Suzanne Wright; for their annual fair time logo designed by artist Steve Dana; and their Emergency Procedure Manual. A second-place was awarded for their radio commercial.
