DIXON, CA (MPG) - Two of our administrators announced their resignations in March. Both Assistant Principal and Kristen Brand and I are so grateful and blessed for the opportunity to work with parents and your students for many years, but we are also both moving on after this school year. While our situations are different, both of us have made careful, difficult decisions based on family, professional, and personal factors. Speaking for both of us, we appreciate your trust over the years, and we cannot express how much your kids mean to us.
Here is the text of the email we sent to students:
“Our Dear Rammies, we are taking this moment to share some news with you.
Ms. Marquez and Ms. Brand are saying goodbye to Dixon High School at the end of this school year. We want you to know that our decisions did not come lightly or without great thought. Between the two of us, we have been lucky enough to work with DUSD students for over 45 years. We have learned so much from all of you. You have made our lives better, and we hope we have left a memory or two with you as well.
We are both leaving for personal, professional, and family reasons but will always have a special place in our hearts and memories for our Dixon students and staff.
We wish you the very best of luck with all you choose to do as you continue your educational endeavors and with all that awaits you once you, too, leave Dixon High School. Please know that we are extremely proud of you and are better because of you.
As Ms. Brand says, “be smart about your dumb” and strive to live your very best life. As Ms. Marquez says, “Thank you, beautiful people. You make my world go round.” Gratefully and with mad respect, Ms. Marquez and Ms. Brand”
2024 Seniors and Senior Families
Here are some things coming up for our Class of 2024!
Community Scholarships are available to seniors. I sent a message to parents and another to students with all the details. Remember, there are thousands of other scholarships out there! Please encourage your senior to keep an eye out for opportunities beyond Dixon as well.
Please remember that you and your graduate need to complete the FAFSA. You can start the process at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.
Our senior awards nights begin later this spring. Currently, we have scheduled the following evenings:
Monday, May 13 is Senior Awards Night for Community Scholarship Recipients; Wednesday, May 15 is AVID Senior Night; Monday, May 20 is Distinguished Scholars Night; Wednesday, May 22 is FFA Banquet; Wednesday, June 5, is Senior Social; and, of course, Saturday, June 8, is the DHS Class of 2024 Graduation Ceremony starting at 9 a.m. (open ceremony).
