Homecoming Brings Win

The Rams were three down in the second half but got a second wind and came back strong.
“I believed the boys would win but there are always homecoming distractions and I think that is what attributed to the slow first half start,” said Coach Wes Besseghini, who is in his 14th year as head coach.
“The second half was all about execution and not making mistakes. I was extremely proud of our defense for keeping us in the game during the first half when our offense struggled to get going,” Besseghini added.
The winning game was a great way to end a week full of pride as, earlier in the day, local students paraded through Hall Park to show their spirit and support of the school football teams following the class floats.
With the theme of “Hollywood,” the freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior floats were decorated with movieland aura and displayed signs thanking several local sponsors. Each of them carried members of the Homecoming Court: Homecoming King Patrick Keller and Queen Paige Purcell along with nominees seniors Kevin Holman and Breanna Ramirez; freshmen Prince and Princess Antonio Romero and Leeanza Hamilton; sophomore Prince and Princess Jeremiah Gastelum and Chloe Noutary; and juniors Prince and Princess Ethan Brinley and Sarah Montano. The exuberant new Dixon High School Principal, Angela Brown, experienced her first Dixon High School Homecoming.
“After seeing the smiles on everyone's face, I feel joyously satisfied. I was thrilled to experience the love Dixon High School received from the community,” she said. “I get joy through others. The definition of a successful high school is to work academically hard and play equally hard. With the help of an amazing staff, teachers, students and community, my job has been super easy. I look forward to new and fun adventures for the community and I thank the entire district, the superintendent, and the school board for giving me the opportunity and encouragement to bring back Homecoming and to instill school spirit.”
The Dixon Rams will meet their match at the next football game when they play the Casa Robles Rams on Friday, Oct. 18, at the Casa Robles High School at 9151 Oak Ave. in Orangevale at 5 p.m. for JV and 7 p.m. for Varsity. On Oct. 25, the Rams will play against the Natomas Nighthawks in Natomas.
