DIXON, CA (MPG) - It’s All About the Scrapbook at 1670 N. Lincoln St. is a scrapbooking and craft hobby shop that offers materials such as designer paper and embellishments, as well as classes and an online store.

The business, from 12 to 1 p.m. Jan. 21, hosted Dueling Designers East Coast Vs. West Coast Season 2.

Every month, Yvonne Lenhares, co-owner of It’s All About Scrapbook, and Renee Kolasinski of Scrap-A-Latte in West Babylon, N.Y., design two double-page scrapbooking layouts using the same new collection of materials.

“We are a scrapbooking store on the West Coast, one of the few left, and my partner, Yvonne, was talking to another store owner in N.Y. (Kolasinski) about how to get people to engage again with scrapbooking. They came up with Dueling Designers,” said co-owner Andrea Kett. “Quarterly, we come up with scrapbook layouts using new collections. We have a reveal every Tuesday and we have a duel where we show everyone what we made.”

Yvonne Lenhares, co-owner of It’s All About the Scrapbook, records footage for her West Coast layout reveal with instructions.

For $68 per person, club members received a collection kit and a coordinating solids kit for all three months of sessions, the second of which will occur at 12 p.m. Feb. 11, followed by the final session at 12 p.m. March 18. Club members were also provided with access to a private Facebook group for details about the dueling layouts, including instructions, and were expected to choose which layout to make, representing either the East Coast or West Coast style.

“We use the collection from the kits and load the instructions online for our different scrapbook layouts so they can get inspired and use the one they would like to make,” said Kett.

According to Kett, there are several reasons why scrapbooking is significant. To her, being a historian for family, friends and loved ones is the most important.

All supplies used during the event, including the collection and coordinating solids kit, are provided by the venue for $68 per person.

“I enjoy scrapbooking because you can put all your memories on paper and share them,” said Kett.

Everyone does it for different purposes but, from Kett’s perspective, commemoration is key.
