The Dixon May Fair came to a close at 10 p.m. May 11. Besides carnival rides and food vendors, the venue also offered a variety of live musical performances, including Summer of Love, Unchained—A Tribute to Van Halen, Sunset River and the Rhythm Method Trio. The Friendly Bookworm Bag Sale
The Friendly Bookworm Bookstore is hosting a bag sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17. Sponsored by Friends of the Dixon Public Library, 200 N. First St., the event offers the opportunity to fill a bag with books for $5. Standard-sized grocery bags will be provided, but some items are excluded from the sale. The children’s room will be open at regular prices. All proceeds support future Dixon Public Library programs. Only cash and checks will be accepted.

The Valley Glen community is hosting a yard sale open to the public from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 17. Back by popular demand, the Valley Glen community at Valley Glen Drive offers Dixonites the chance to find great deals alongside family and neighbors.

Mickey Cake Class
Every Baking Moment is hosting a Disney-themed cake baking workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17. The workshop, held at 143 N. First St. offers an opportunity to decorate a cake with friends and take it home, all for $65 per person. All supplies are provided, and the final design may differ based on skill level.

Dixon Girls Softball Family Fun Day
Dixon Girls Softball is hosting a family fun day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17. Held at Hall Park, 450 Hall Park Drive, the event offers games, activities, a hit-a-thon, vendors, a snack bar and more. Dixon Girls Softball invites the community to join them as they wrap up the Spring season.

VFW Upcoming Meeting
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8151 will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. May 21. Meetings are held every third Wednesday at The Olde Vets Hall, 231 N. First St. Official business meetings start at 7 p.m., but the hall opens for set-up and socializing at 6 p.m. Socializing will continue after the business portion of the meeting.

Dixon Community Theater Mixer at the Chamber
The Dixon Chamber of Commerce is hosting a mixer alongside Dixon Community Theater from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 28. Held at the chamber, 220 N. Jefferson St., this free event offers a no-host bar, snacks, raffle prizes, networking opportunities and the opportunity to meet the cast and production team behind “Alice’s Wonderland,” Dixon Community Theater’s upcoming original musical. Angi Wolf, who stars as the Queen of Hearts in the production, will perform the song “The Queen of Hearts” live.

Line Dancing at Ruhstaller
Ruhstaller Farms is hosting line dancing from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 5. The event, held at 6686 Sievers Road, offers a community atmosphere and the opportunity to learn how to line dance. Dinner, prepared by Tapps Kitchen, is available from 3 to 8 p.m. Attendees can donate, and each month, donations will be given to a different nonprofit organization.
