FAIRFIELD, CA (MPG) – Solano County Office of Education (SCOE) is celebrating 131 high school students who successfully completed Solano County Office of Education’s Work-Ready! Certification program this school year.

Students from throughout Solano County showed their dedication to future success in both the workforce and higher education by completing a three-week course offered by Solano County Office of Education in collaboration with local business partners.

Offered annually to local high schools, the Work-Ready! Certification program provides participants with practical, hands-on learning through daily after-school workshops. Students gain essential career and life skills, including an introduction to financial literacy, job searching, resume and cover letter writing and interview preparation.

The program culminates in mock interviews with business leaders from local chambers of commerce and equips each student with a professional portfolio.

“We are grateful for the strong community partnerships that make the Work-Ready! Certification program possible, especially the support of our local chambers of commerce,” said Solano County Superintendent of Schools Lisette Estrella-Henderson. “Together, we are helping students build essential college and career skills, connect with local professionals and gain the confidence they need to thrive in life beyond high school.”

The Work-Ready! Certification program is coordinated by Solano County Office of Education’s College and Career Readiness program and made possible through partnerships with the Vacaville, Fairfield, Vallejo, Dixon and Black chambers of commerce. Travis Credit Union also played a key role in supporting the program by leading financial literacy workshops for students and sponsoring the year-end celebration held May 8 at Jelly Belly in Fairfield.

“We are proud of the students and their dedication to furthering themselves in preparation for work and post-secondary education,” added Kelley Birch, director of Solano County Office of Education’s College and Career Readiness.
