SOLANO COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Solano County’s first community garden is coming to Dixon this summer through a partnership between Solano County Library and Sustainable Solano.
The Dixon Library Community Garden will transform a vacant lot at the corner of B and Second streets into a thriving public green space designed for community use, education and engagement.
The garden’s layout and design are expected to be completed by the end of May and will be on display at the Dixon Public Library for public viewing.
The garden’s installation will take place on two volunteer-powered building days: Saturday, June 14, and Saturday, June 21. Community members are encouraged to participate and help bring this space to life.
Once completed, anticipated by June 30, the garden will feature rentable garden plots, a children’s garden and serve as a platform for library-led educational programs. The garden will be operated as an official Solano County Library program and be overseen by a volunteer garden coordinator.

Plot rentals will be available for one year, with rental policies and general garden use guidelines available in early June.
“Solano County Library is excited to partner with Sustainable Solano to bring this vision to life. This is more than just a garden; it’s a place for learning, gathering and growing together,” said Library Services Director Suzanne Olawski.
Community members interested in volunteering for the June 14 build day can register at eventbrite.com/e/dixon-library-community-workday-tickets-1367620813669.
