DIXON, CA (MPG) - The Dixon Women’s Improvement Club (DWIC) announced the recipients of its 2025 Community Grants, made possible by the success of the club’s recent fundraiser held at Pedro’s Cocina, 1425 Market Lane.

Thanks to the generosity of club members, their families, friends and the greater Dixon community, the event raised more than $5,000 through a raffle featuring more than 50 uniquely curated baskets, in addition to funds raised through a silent auction.

These efforts, combined with yearlong fundraising and community involvement, enabled Dixon Women’s Improvement Club to provide financial support to several local programs that uplift and serve Dixon residents.

Dixon Women’s Improvement Club extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed, attended and participated in the event. A special thank-you goes to Pedro of Pedro's Cocina for graciously hosting the event and for his continued support of the Dixon community.

Dixon Women’s Improvement Club also recognizes Kay Cayler and Rebecca Robinson, who played instrumental roles in organizing fundraising efforts and assisted with presenting the 2025 Community Grants at the club’s general meeting. Each recipient shared insight into how the funds will benefit their organization’s mission and the broader community.

The 2025 Dixon Women’s Improvement Club Community Grant Recipients are listed below.

Anderson Elementary Special Education, Kathy Montemayor. Funds will be used to purchase a teacher’s manual and printed books to support an online reading program for 35 special education students.

Cornerstone Baptist Church Food Pantry, Corrine Boicelli. Funds will help serve 125 to 135 families weekly and 50 to 60 seniors monthly, as well as support a diaper distribution program. Leftover food is donated to Dixon High School and Maine Prairie School to prevent waste.

Dixon Community Compassion Care, Pam Franklin. Grant funds will be used to purchase supplies for visiting and assisting those in need throughout the community.

Dixon High School Rams Vault, Principal Angela Brown. Funds will support the school's on-campus food and clothing closet for students. Open weekly, the Vault allows students to shop for necessities and now includes microwaves for meals on site.

Dixon High School Rocketry Club, Vice-Principal Fletcher Riches. Funds will go toward purchasing rocket parts. The newly formed club, led by dedicated freshmen, reached the national rocketry competition, placing 50th out of 100 top clubs nationwide.

Dixon Historical Society, Diane Schroeder. Funds will be used to acquire two locking portable display cases, allowing local artifacts to be safely displayed in traveling exhibits.

John Knight Middle School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Carry Ross-Richardson. The incoming Parent Teacher Organization president accepted funds to support the eighth-grade graduation trip, teacher appreciation efforts and much-needed playground upgrades.

Maine Prairie High School, Principal Angelina Arias. Funds will provide reusable water bottles to students as a part of the school’s PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) reward system.

Maine Prairie High School, Regina Peterson. Grant funds will supply helmets for students and local children who bike or use electric scooters, promoting safety and storage through the school’s Vault program.

Dixon Women’s Improvement Club is proud to support these vital programs and looks forward to watching their continued impact on the Dixon community.
