DIXON, CA (MPG) - Dixon High School hosted its graduation for the Class of 2025 at 9 a.m. June 7.
Held at Finney Field, 555 College Way, the event honored 234 Dixon High seniors, including 16 distinguished scholars and 21 students who earned their state Seal of Biliteracy.
According to Jamie Otero, a cousin of graduate Seal of Biliteracy, June 7 was a happy day.
“We’re stoked; this is a happy day,” said Slone. “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
The ceremony began with the Class of 2025 marching onto the football field to the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance,” followed by a rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” performed by graduate Cristian Mata De La Paz on electric guitar. Principal Angela Brown then welcomed the crowd and students.
“Today, we gather to celebrate a significant milestone,” said Brown. “As the principal of Dixon High School, it is my honor to welcome you and honor the Class of 2025. Graduates, today marks the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. Every moment has gotten you to this point. You have grown not only in knowledge but also in character.”
Brown concluded her speech by asking Dixon High staff to stand and be recognized. In addition, Brown acknowledged the Dixon Unified School District Board of Trustees, including President Julian Cuevas, Vice-President Regina Espinoza, clerk Jewel Fink and members John Gabby and Robert Sanchez.
Superintendent Brett Barley and Assistant Superintendents Dr. Liza Estupin and Dr. Dan Scudero were also recognized.
Pam Gill Fisher, representing the Dixon High School Hall of Fame, also announced the 2025 Hall of Fame inductees. Honorees include Dan Caldwell (Class of 1958), Cindy Duncan (Class of 1969), John Alarcon (Class of 1975), Henry Stuckey (Class of 1989), Pat Denofrio (Class of 1991), Michelle Bello (Class of 2009), Madison Dwelley (Class of 2013), coach Gabe Villasenor, special contributor Willis Simpson and the 1954 boys’ basketball team.
Diploma presentation followed, split into three distinct segments. Each segment was led by a student speech, the first of which was “Impaction” by graduate and Student Body President Reagan Castelli.
“I believe we should focus on who we will be rather than what we will do in our lifetime,” said Castelli.
Castelli was followed by Alexa Lopez Ramos, who gave her speech, “Échale Ganas,” in Spanish. Échale ganas is an encouraging phrase that means “give it your all” or “go for it.”

With such a large class of graduates, diploma presentation was segmented into three distinct sections, separated by a series of student speeches. Speakers included Reagan Castelli (pictured), Alexa Lopez Ramos and Emily Penery.
And Emily Penery gave her speech, “New Beginnings,” where she discussed the next step that graduation offers.
“Here we are. It is finally our turn. We made it,” said Penery.
Graduates were excited to discuss their plans for post-graduation, including Harmony Caldera, Gimena Cortez and Mia Guajardo.
“I’m proud of myself and grateful for all the support I have received,” said Caldera.
Caldera intends to go to Woodland Community College for biology.
“I’m proud of myself for being able to overcome all these obstacles,” said Cortez.
Cortez plans to attend California State University, Sacramento for health science.
“I’m excited to start my new journey into adulthood,” said Guajardo.
Guajardo plans to attend community college to pursue a career in health.
Congratulations, Class of 2025.
