DIXON, CA (MPG) - The Dixon Unified School District’s (DUSD) third annual Backpack to the Future Back to School Festival has come to a close.

According to Dixon Unified School District Board President Julian Cuevas, the event was a great success, allowing Dixonites to meet school staff and local service members in preparation for the fall semester, beginning Aug. 6.

Almost 500 backpacks were gifted to Dixon children while parents perused information booths around Pardi Plaza.

Local organizations, such as the Kiwanis Club, Dixon Rotary Club and Dixon Lions Club, were integral to the event's success, having donated the majority of the backpacks and supplies.

Other organizations also supported this district-wide event, including the Dixon Chamber of Commerce, Dixon Fire Department, Dixon Police Department, Grocery Outlet, Dixon Family Services, TEAM Dixon, Dixon Teen Center, Catalyst Kids, Solano County Library, the Solano County Office of Education and Dixon Community Theater.

This family-friendly day of play has offered families the resources and connections necessary for their students to be successful in the 2025-26 school year.
