DIXON, CA (MPG) - La Cocina Mexican Restaurant will host a community fundraiser, Tacos for Ta-Tas, from noon to 8 p.m. Sept. 8 in support of Jessica McCafferty, a Dixon mother currently battling breast cancer.

The event, organized by long-time friend and restaurant owner Nayely Salcedo, will feature special menu items, raffles and themed pink drinks. Fifteen percent of the day’s proceeds will go directly to McCafferty to help with medical and living expenses during her treatment.

“I’ve known Jessica since sixth-grade,” said Salcedo “She’s always felt like an older sister to me. This is important because we’re close with the McCafferty family and just want to give her a little peace of mind.”

La Cocina has been a family-run business in Dixon for 15 years alongside Nayely Salcedo’s parents, Leticia and Marco Salcedo.

According to Nayely Salcedo, the family was inspired to act after seeing the challenges that McCafferty’s diagnosis placed on her and her loved ones.

The Sept. 8 event will include several themed specials: taco flights with six mini street tacos served in a heart-shaped box, “Dinner for Two Fajitas” featuring steak, chicken and shrimp, and two signature pink cocktails, the Pink Señorita Margarita and the Pink Whitney Spritz. Taco Trays will also be $5 off throughout the day.

“We’re also decorating the outside with pink balloons for photo ops,” said Salcedo. “The entire day is themed around support and awareness.”

A raffle will be held featuring a gift basket filled with donations from local businesses, including A-List Boutique, owned by Andrea Aguilera, and other Dixon-area favorites. Tickets can be purchased in person at the restaurant with cash or via Venmo and the winner will be announced the following day, Sept. 9.

“If any small business would like to donate an item or sponsor a prize, we’d love the support,” said Salcedo. “We’re still accepting donations.”

The event’s slogan, “No One Fights Alone,” reflects the community’s effort to stand beside McCafferty.

“As moms, as women, we need to support each other,” said Salcedo. “This isn’t just about raising money: it’s about raising love, raising spirits, and raising strength.”
