DIXON, CA (MPG) - Nino’s Cut and Shave, a longtime barbershop in downtown Dixon, continues to serve customers more than a decade after owner Nino Tomelloso first opened its doors.
The shop at 180 W. A St. is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and closed on Sundays.
Tomelloso, who was born and raised in Dixon, said his interest in barbering began in his childhood.
“I fell in love with the barber atmosphere when I was a kid,” said Tomelloso. “My dad used to take me to a local barbershop and I loved the camaraderie and banter.”
According to Tomelloso, that desire to support others helped shape the shop’s mission.
“I really liked helping people feel better about themselves. That was always my goal,” said Tomelloso.

The barbershop offers a range of services, including $40 standard haircuts, $15 lineups and $35 straight-edge face shaves. Specialty designs vary in price depending on detail, size and time. Tomelloso said that the shop maintains a welcoming culture for both regulars and first-time visitors.
“It’s very family-friendly,” said Tomelloso. “There’s a lot of male banter but we’re considerate of when moms or kids are in here.”
One of the factors that distinguishes the business is its scheduling system, according to Tomelloso.
“We’re one of the first to bring appointments to Dixon,” said Tomelloso. “There’s a lot of great barbershops in town, so we’re happy to be part of the culture.”

The shop remains active in local events, participating regularly in activities such as the Brewski Fest, the Wine and Art Stroll and the Halloween Hunt.
