DIXON, CA (MPG) - The Dixon Police Department and the Dixon Fire Department is conducting two active shooter training exercises at Dixon High School.
The first training exercise was on Monday, Nov. 24, and the second training exercise will be on Friday, Dec. 19. The training is from 8 a.m. to about 5 p.m. on both days.
Officials said that the exercises are part of an ongoing effort to improve safety and preparedness for schools, first responders and the community.
Residents can expect a large presence of police officers and firefighters in the area during the training. Simulated gunfire will also be used. Authorities emphasized that the activity is only a training exercise and there is no cause for concern.
The public is asked to avoid the area if possible and to call 911 only in the event of a real emergency.
Officials thanked residents for their cooperation as the departments work to strengthen emergency response capabilities.
