DIXON, CA (MPG) - Abby Seibert has been named Soroptimist International of Dixon’s Young Woman of the Month. Seibert was presented by her teacher, Michael Vlach, of Dixon High School’s social science department. Vlach commented on how Seibert is “engaged and hanging on to the content”, “her work is thorough and communicates very clearly and puts in any work necessary to produce great knowledge of the concepts and to produce very cool products.”

Seibert is the daughter of Brian and Yvette Seibert, and she has two siblings, Roman and Ainsley.

Seibert has taken on very active roles in such organizations as Avid, the Key Club, the Public Service Academy (PSA) at Dixon High, and the Solano Youth Coalition. Within the Public Service Academy, she has held multiple leadership roles, currently holding the office of President of the Academy.

Seibert’s accomplishments she is most proud of are that she has achieved a 4.0 GPA all four years of high school along with participating last summer in an eleven-day Global Glimpse service-learning trip to Costa Rica. Global Glimpse’s mission is for the youth of today to become leaders, listen to what communities need and try to support them as best as possible.

While in Costa Rica, Seibert supported and learned from the locals, dug trenches to put in a new pipe for clean water, spent the day teaching English words and fun activities to the local elementary school kids, and she used her voice to advocate for environmental rights. As Seibert wants to make a positive difference and make a mark on society, she has certainly already started this with her involvement in Global Glimpse.

Seibert continues to make a difference in her own community with her membership in the Solano Youth Coalition (SYC). Solano Youth Coalition involves teenagers and young adults who help shape local policies and programs that support safer, healthier communities. As one of the top students at Dixon High School, she represents Solano County at the state level. Seibert is currently part of the Social Justice committee, where the committee collected information to make a presentation on intersectionality that ties with current issues facing our community.

Seibert’s community service activities through Avid and the Key Club have included helping set up and working at multiple local elementary school events; attending political meetings; making cards for the elderly; helping at the library; organizing the college and career fair at the high school, and more.

Seibert’s hobbies include reading, photography and music.

Something that grew out of the pandemic is Seibert’s love of psychology. Excited to become the first in her family to attend college, Seibert plans to major in Psychology at a UC campus, progressing to her Ph.D. in order to become a Lab Director of Psychology.

Soroptimist International of Dixon members know that Seibert has so much to offer and will no doubt change the world in many ways. Congratulations Seibert!
