DIXON, CA (MPG) – A variety of Valentine’s Day-themed activities and dining options are scheduled in and around Dixon, offering opportunities for families, teens and couples to celebrate. In addition, several local government and community facilities will close in observance of President’s Day on Feb. 16.

Local bakeries are featuring seasonal offerings tied to the holiday. Solano Baking Company, 1160 Pitt School Road B, sells specialty items made with naturally available ingredients in limited arrangements. Seasonal products include chocolate-dipped strawberries, stylized as “stemberries,” Creme Brûlée donuts, cherry muffins and brown butter chocolate chip cookies. Every Baking Moment, 143 N. First St., will host a Teen Valentine Cake Class from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 13. The one-hour session costs $45 and is open to teens only. Participants will learn to create a Valentine-themed cake and take their finished dessert home. All supplies are provided. Dixon Library, 230 N. First St., is offering a Valentine’s Day-themed “Afternoon Adventures” program titled “Valentine’s Graham Cottages.” The after-school program is open to all school-aged children and their families and features a different activity each week. Menu items include wrapped bacon grilled filet mignon with shrimp marsala sauce, cioppino, lobster ravioli, pan-fried lemon ginger salmon, red wine braised boneless short ribs and panko pistachio-lemon crusted halibut with orange sauce.

All dinners include a choice of soup or salad. Dessert options include a s’mores drizzled chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream and crème brûlée topped with caramelized brown sugar and fresh raspberries.
