Dixon Youth Sports Programs Open Spring Seasons

DIXON. CA (MPG) – Youth athletes across Dixon are preparing for a full slate of spring sports as local rugby, football, baseball and soccer programs open registration and begin practices in the coming weeks.
The Solano-Yolo Rugby Club kicked off its youth season for U10, U12 and middle school teams on Dec. 9, 2025. Practices are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hall Park, 450 Hall Park Drive, and are held rain or shine. The club’s high school program began Jan. 6, 2026, with the same practice schedule.
Youth teams have competed at multi-team sites in a series of shorter games played in the morning. The youth schedule has two final games, the next of which is Feb. 28 at Chico. The season concludes with an end-of-year Bay Area tournament on March 7.
The high school preseason began Feb. 14 at De La Salle. On Feb. 28, Dixon hosts Lomarinda for the first side and Elk Grove for the second side. League play opens March 7 at Liberty, followed by home and away contests through April. Playoffs are scheduled for May 5, with the championship set for May 9.

In football, Dixon Youth Football and Cheer has opened registration for its spring flag football season, which runs March 22 through May 3. The program is open to boys and girls in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade and is part of the NFL Flag official league. All games will be played in Dixon.

Registration closes March 8, the same day as the mandatory skills combine at Dixon High School. Players will participate in warmups and skill stations focusing on snaps, throws, route running, catching and flag pulling. Fees are $100 for TK and kindergarten players and $125 for first through eighth grade. Registration includes a jersey, flags and a mouth guard.

Volunteers will prepare fields and facilities, clean dugouts and organize equipment. Umpire training for ages 11 and older is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m.

Younger athletes can take part in the spring season of Soccer Shots Solano, with sessions beginning March 21. The 10-week program, running March 22 through May 31, is designed for children ages 2 to 8. The Classic program for ages 3.5 to 5.5 features 45-minute sessions focused on fundamental soccer skills and character development.
