149th Dixon May Fair Set for May 7 to 10

The Dixon May Fair will return for its 149th year May 7 to 10 at the fairgrounds, 655 S. First St., featuring carnival rides, live entertainment, livestock competitions and grandstand events.
DIXON, CA (MPG) – The Dixon May Fair will return for its 149th year May 7 to 10 at the fairgrounds, 655 S. First St., featuring carnival rides, live entertainment, livestock competitions and grandstand events.
Fair hours are scheduled from 4 to 10 p.m. May 7, noon to 11 p.m. May 8, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. May 9 and noon to 10 p.m. May 10. Parking is $10 per vehicle, cash only. General admission is $15 for adults 13 and older, $10 for children ages 5 to 12, $10 for seniors 65 and older and active-duty military with identification, and free for children 4 and under.
Special promotions include Thrifty Thursday on May 7, offering $5 admission for guests age 5 and older, and Kids Day on May 8, when children 12 and under receive free fair admission.
Grandstand entertainment will include the Flying U Rodeo Bull Riding event at 7 p.m. May 9, the Maxx Kakl Powersports Truck and Tractor Pull at 7 p.m. May 10 and the Moondog Motorsports Demolition Derby at 5:30 p.m. May 11. Seating for each event begins one hour prior to showtime. Tickets are $40 for all ages, with advance purchases including fair admission if bought by designated dates.
Live music and performances will take place throughout the fair at the Leber Garden Stage. Scheduled acts include the Sunset River Band May 7, School of Rock Vacaville and Outlaw Mariachi May 8, Dixon Dance Studio, the Jeff Crossman Band and the Rhythm Method Trio May 9, and Maya Band and Four Barrel on May 10.
Family-focused activities will return with the Allied Propane Kids Zone, featuring attractions such as All Alaskan Pig Racing, Kids Town America and a visit from the Dixon Fire Department’s Sparky the Fire Dog from noon to 5 p.m. May 8.

Barrel. Photo by Nicolas BrownAt the Picnic Stage May 9, the 12th Annual Dixon May Fair Classic Car Show and Chamber of Commerce Parade Awards will be held. The 11th annual car show and parade included 135 entries representing more than 70 businesses and organizations.
Carnival rides and games will again be provided by Butler Amusements, with more than 20 rides planned. The company will introduce a reloadable wristband system available through on-site kiosks, allowing guests to redeem advance tickets, purchase unlimited ride wristbands or add ride and game credits. Kiosks will accept multiple forms of payment, and staff will be available to assist attendees.
The fair will also offer a sensory station designed as a quiet space for guests experiencing sensory overload, along with bilingual wait cards and visual schedules to assist visitors.

Entries for exhibition competitions, including livestock, a junior dog show, car show, a coloring contest and much more, are due April 10.
