DIXON, CA (MPG) – Friday, May 1, more than 200 Dixon Women’s Improvement Club (DWIC) members, family and friends attended the club’s annual fundraising dinner at Pedro’s Cocina, 1425 Market Lane. Tickets for the event were $40, making it an accessible and festive evening.

This annual community event raises funds for scholarships for seniors attending Maine Prairie High School and Dixon High School. The event also provides grants to schools, local nonprofits and community groups. This year, 52 students applied for DWIC scholarships, and 29 organizations applied for grant funding.

Every year, chosen participants look forward to buying tickets for a chance to win one of the gift baskets provided by the Dixon Women’s Improvement Club members.

There were 47 themed gift baskets available, along with more than 50 items to bid on in the silent auction. Each item for the silent auction ranged in value from $25 to $150.

Host and chef, Pedro Torres, treated attendees to a delicious spread of authentic Mexican cuisine, including chicken chili verde, carnitas, grilled vegetables and all the classic sides. Beverages such as margaritas, tequila cocktails, beer and soft drinks were also available for purchase.

Dixon Women’s Improvement Club extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and supported this year’s event. Your generosity helps fund scholarships and strengthen programs that benefit local youth and the broader community. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
