Dixon Prepares for Fall Sports Season

DIXON, CA (MPG) - Youth sports organizations and local schools are gearing up for a busy fall season, with registration opportunities, opening events and competition scheduled across Dixon in the coming weeks.
Dixon Little League has opened early registration for its inaugural Dixon Fall Ball season. Registration began July 27 and continues through Aug. 20. The league's first fall baseball season is tentatively scheduled to run from mid-September through Nov. 1.
League officials said the program is designed to help players continue developing their baseball skills while providing competitive play and opportunities for athletes of all experience levels. Organizers said registration opened earlier than usual to allow families additional time to reserve a spot for the season.

Dixon Youth Football and Cheer concluded registration for its fall tackle football season on July 25. The organization's first day of practice is scheduled for Aug. 3, with players asked to bring water, wear shorts and cleats, and bring their helmets.
Before the season begins, the organization hosted a Football and Cheer Camp on July 25 for participants interested in football or cheerleading. The event featured instruction from Dixon High School athletes and allowed families to meet coaches before the season. Lunch was provided, and participants were encouraged to bring appropriate athletic attire and water bottles.

Dixon Girls Softball also completed registration for its Fall Ball season on July 26. League officials reported that 91 players were registered for the 2026 season, an increase from 53 in 2025. The fall schedule includes two practices each week and Sunday doubleheader games.

Dixon Leon Soccer Club will mark the start of its season by hosting its first alumni game at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Hall Park turf field, 285 E. Chestnut St. The Opening Day celebration will begin with hot dogs served at 5:45 p.m., followed by the alumni match. Leon merchandise will be available while supplies last.

Although its competitive season begins later in the year, Dixon Youth Basketball has opened registration for its winter league, which remains available through Nov. 1. The program serves players in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade and features age-based divisions. Player assessments are scheduled for early November, with the season typically running from December through March. Practices are held at Dixon Unified School District facilities, and volunteer coaches and staff support Saturday games.

At the high school level, Dixon High School has released its varsity football schedule. The Rams will open with an away game against San Juan on Aug. 28 before returning home to host Winters on Sept. 4 and Colfax on Sept. 11.
