VACAVILLE, CA (MPG) - The Vaca Valley Garden Club invites local plant lovers, backyard growers and landscaping enthusiasts to kick off its upcoming meeting season on Monday, Sept. 9. The event will begin at 10 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, located at 425 Hemlock St. in Vacaville. No prior registration or advanced reservations are required for guests. 

The season opener offers a welcoming space for anyone looking to connect over a shared passion for horticulture, plant care and floral design. Attendees will gain access to valuable insights from specialized guest speakers, meet local neighbors and exchange creative tips for managing home gardens. 

“Our mission statement has always been to encourage and teach others about gardening,” the club noted, emphasizing that both beginner and seasoned gardeners are welcome. 

Established in 1957, the Vaca Valley Garden Club is a non-profit organization affiliated with the California Garden Clubs Inc. It serves a broad base of regional members spanning Upper Solano and Yolo Counties, drawing active participants from Vacaville, Dixon, Fairfield, Suisun, Rio Vista, Vallejo, Benicia and Winters. 

Beyond monthly educational meetings, the club plays an active role in local civic life through environmental initiatives and community beautification projects. Key efforts include the continuous maintenance of public municipal spaces and supporting the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. Members also regularly participate in community programs like Adopt-a-Poll, Penny Pines Restoration Program, the Blue Star Memorial and local college scholarships. 

Regular club meetings take place on the second Wednesday of each month from September through May. Each gathering concludes with a light luncheon, an informal plant sale, and custom handmade cards available for purchase. Annual membership dues are $35.
