FAIRFIELD, CA (MPG) - Solano Community College has once again earned the top spot in the Bay Valley Conference, winning the 2025–26 Shirley Baskin Commissioner’s Cup for the second consecutive year.

The Commissioner’s Cup recognizes the conference member that demonstrates the strongest combination of academic achievement and athletic performance. Scoring considers each college’s conference finishes across its athletic programs, along with the overall academic performance of its student athletes.

Solano’s first-place finish follows its 2024–25 Commissioner’s Cup victory and reflects the continued dedication of Falcon student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff, and athletic support teams. During the 2025–26 academic year, Solano Athletics earned a department-wide grade point average of 3.30, demonstrating that the Falcons’ success extends well beyond competition.

“This honor represents what Solano Athletics is all about: excellence in the classroom, dedication in competition, and a strong community committed to supporting our student-athletes,” said Dr. Brian Street, Dean of Health Sciences. “Earning the Commissioner’s Cup for a second consecutive year reflects the discipline, teamwork, and perseverance demonstrated by our student athletes and coaches throughout the year. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and of the way our Falcons continue to represent Solano Community College, both in competition and in the classroom.”

Established in 2018, the award honors former Bay Valley Conference Commissioner Shirley Baskin, who led the conference from 2005 to 2018 and served as athletic director at Los Medanos College for 26 years. Baskin was inducted into the California Community College Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame in recognition of her student-centered leadership and commitment to student success.

Solano Community College congratulates its student-athletes and the entire Athletics Department on earning this distinguished recognition for a second year in a row.
