VACAVILLE, CA (MPG) - City of Vacaville Director of Public Works Brian Oxley has announced his retirement, effective Oct. 1, concluding more than two decades of service to the city and more than 25 years in public works and municipal engineering.

Mr. Oxley began his career with the City of Vacaville in 2002 and most recently served as assistant director of public works overseeing engineering before being appointed director of public works Jan 1. Throughout his career, he has helped advance complex infrastructure projects and supported the development and maintenance of public facilities and systems serving the Vacaville community.

“Vacaville has been an important part of my professional life for more than two decades, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have served this community,” said Mr. Oxley. “I am especially proud of the Public Works team and the work we have accomplished together. It has been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated professionals, and I know the department will continue to serve Vacaville well.”

“Brian has dedicated much of his career to serving Vacaville, and his contributions can be seen throughout our community,” said City Manager Savita Chaudhary. “His technical expertise, institutional knowledge, and commitment to public service have been invaluable to our organization and our community. We thank Brian for his many years of service and wish him and his family all the best in retirement.”

Director of Utilities Justen Cole will serve as interim director of public works effective Oct. 1 and will provide leadership and continuity for the department while continuing to oversee the utilities department.
