DIXON, CA (MPG) – The Dixon Fire Department responded to and extinguished a residential structure fire on Sept. 25, a short distance from Tremont Elementary School. 

Just before 2 a.m., the department received a report of a fire in the 300 block of Manning Way. Upon arrival, crews encountered a working fire involving the second story of the residence. All residents were safely evacuated from the home.

A second alarm was requested due to the conditions encountered and the potential need for additional resources. Once first-alarm resources arrived on scene and crews made significant progress on the fire, the second alarm was canceled. 

Fire crews extinguished the blaze at approximately 2:17 a.m. Firefighters remained on scene for several hours to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. The cause of the fire has been determined and is not considered suspicious.

Personnel and resources from the City of Vacaville Fire Department, UC Davis Fire Department, Winters Fire Department, City of Davis Fire Department and Fairfield Fire Department assisted the Dixon Fire Department. Vacaville Fire personnel also provided coverage at Dixon Fire Station 81 while Dixon crews worked the incident.

Additional assistance was provided by the Dixon Police Department, Medic Ambulance and the American Red Cross. The residents were provided with a SAVE (Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency) card through the California Fire Foundation to assist with immediate needs following the fire. 

The NorCal Emergency Responders Organization provided breakfast to members of the Dixon Fire Department who remained on scene in the morning.
