DAVIS, CA (MPG) - The City of Davis is accepting applications for the annual Environmental Recognition Awards now through Jan. 31, 2027. Awards will be given in the following three categories for their work done in 2026: Individual, Business and Non-Profit Organizations/Volunteer Groups/Schools. In addition, an Environmental Legacy award will be given recognizing events and programs that have made a significant difference in environmental quality of life in Davis over time.
To be eligible for an Environmental Recognition Award, a nominee’s actions and/or achievements should address a current environmental concern through an established record benefiting the environment and quality of life in and around Davis with commitment to continued effort long term. Nominees should demonstrate creative implementations or development of an innovative project related to sustainability or the environment and set an example of how to conduct business, set up a home environment and/or live daily in a manner that encourages sustainability and harmony with nature.
There are a few changes to the nomination process this year, including a new online application. In addition, applications for the award will now be accepted year-round. Applications received by Jan. 31 each year will be considered for awards in the previous calendar year, while applications received after Jan. 31 will be held for consideration the next calendar year.
Those selected for awards will be recommended to the City Council for a ceremonial presentation and reception in April 2027.
