Northbay Health Launches Residency Program

Northbay Health is taking a major step toward building the next generation of physicians in Solano County with the launch of its Internal Medicine Residency Program, the health system’s first residency program.

The inaugural class of 10 internal medicine residents will begin training July 1, 2027, bringing new physicians into Northbay Health’s hospitals, clinics and specialty services while creating a new pathway for physicians to train and serve in the communities of the region.

Residents will receive broad, hands-on clinical training across Northbay Health. The Northbay Green Valley Primary Care Clinic will serve as the residents’ continuity clinic, allowing them to establish and build lasting relationships with patients throughout their three years of training.

Their curriculum will include inpatient and acute care, as well as a broad range of specialties, including cardiology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, nephrology, hematology/oncology, pulmonary medicine, endocrinology, rheumatology, neurology, geriatrics, addiction medicine, hospice and palliative care, emergency medicine and critical care.

The new residency program builds on Northbay Health’s initial accreditation as an ACGME-sponsoring institution, received in November 2025. That accreditation established the foundation for Northbay Health to develop and oversee residency programs and marked the beginning of the health system’s broader Graduate Medical Education initiative.

The Internal Medicine Residency is the first program within Northbay Health’s emerging GME enterprise, which is being developed to expand opportunities for physician education and training and support the future healthcare workforce in the region.
