DIXON, CA (MPG) – A Goodwill retail thrift store should be open in Dixon by year-end.

Goodwill is renovating the former Discount Store site at 1025 N. Adams St., next to CVS, and has begun advertising job openings there.

Goodwill collects and sells donated household goods and clothing to fund local job training, career counseling and employment placement services.

Goodwill previously operated in Dixon at 1700 N. First St., at what today is Mountain Mike’s Pizza, before closing several years ago.

That location was shuttered in 2021, when Goodwill closed eight stores across Solano, Alameda and Contra Costa counties as a result of the economic downturn associated with the COVID-19 lockdown.

The 1.74-acre North Adams Street location served as a discount store for several years before closing about two years ago.

The city issued a permit in mid-July for Goodwill to upgrade the site. The work is anticipated to be completed in “fall of 2026,” according to information found on the Dixon Grown website, a city-backed site that provides information on development in the city.

Goodwill began advertising job openings at the Dixon store in late October. Positions to be filled include: customer service manager and full-time and part-time retail merchandise processors.

When completed, the store will be part of Goodwill of San Francisco Bay, which currently operates three stores in Solano County – two in Fairfield and one in Vallejo.

Goodwill Industries of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada, a separate entity, operates thrift stores in Davis and Woodland, among other locations.
